WHEN the tell-tale smell of fish and chips is wafting over you, it's hard to think about ordering anything else.
But I'd set out in search of a Chinese and that's what I was going to have.
Food City offers a fine selection of Chinese dishes and I opted for a chicken chow mein and hot and sour beef with boiled rice, which in total came to £8.60.
The chow mein came with some of the biggest pieces of chicken I've seen in a takeaway, although I would have preferred more smaller pieces among the thin, slightly smoky noodles and bean sprouts.
The dish was, however, nice and moist, and was a generous plateful.
The beef dish did exactly as advertised being both hot and sour which is always a good combination.
Thankfully the sauce wasn't too sticky either which made for an enjoyable dish.
