BURNLEY Council's new litter picking teams have swept into action as part of a campaign to help clean up the town.
The three teams will start by targeting problem litter areas across Burnley and Padiham and will work alongside existing refuse collection and street cleaning teams.
To launch the campaign, Burnley Council's Chief Executive Steve Rumbelow and Council Leader Gordon Birtwistle rolled up their sleeves to take part in the litter picks as one of the teams worked its way along Accrington Road.
The teams will follow planned routes during the week with one day set aside for reactive work, responding to calls from the public to tackle a specific area.
