CHARITY campaigners have been tickled pink' by a business's quirky new fundraising drive.

Hapton company Alpha Environmental Tanks Ltd, has had a pink oil tank specially manufactured in Northern Ireland - in stark contrast to the usual grey paint normally used.

The eye-catching tank has been helping help raise money for the Breast Cancer Care's Tickled Pink campaign.

And employees at the company, based in North Street, have used the latest initiative to help raise around £10,000.

Directors of Alpha Environmental Tanks, husband and wife Andrew and Justine French and Mark Hilton, along with their team of staff have been taking the tank to shows including the Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire events where it has become a talking point, raising awareness of the charity work.

Justine, 35, who has two children William, seven and Elizabeth, four, said the pink oil tank attracted many visitors to their stand and had encouraged people to donate to the good cause.

The busy mum, who lives in Edgworth, also took part in the Race for Life earlier this year to help boost the fund.

Justine said: "We have had a great response to the pink oil tank. As a woman I thought it was a good cause to raise money for and I think you are very lucky if you don't know anybody who has been affected."

She added: "I'm really proud of all the Alpha team for managing to raise this amount of money for the breast cancer charity.

"Breast cancer awareness is a huge subject at the moment and we felt it was important for Alpha to get involved and show our support."

Alpha Environmental Tanks was established in 1989.

The company sells and installs oil tanks to both commercial and domestic markets and also provides sewage treatment plants.

Working all across the North, Alpha is one of the leading specialists in oil tanks installation.
