A MAJOR £5million campaign is being launched to get people back into Lancashire’s libraries.

Lancashire County Council has pledged to spend millions of pounds refurbishing its network of 74 libraries.

The scheme is aimed at bringing the county’s buildings into the 21st century.

County Coun Mike Calvert, cabinet member for adult and community services, said: “We know that libraries are important to people’s quality of life and are at the heart of local communities, which is why we are investing around £5.5million in refurbishing them.”

The authority wants services such as DVDs, internet and wi-fi, as well as live music and events in place.
