RESIDENTS are being urged to join a growing campaign against police cuts.
Proposals to close the front desk at Great Harwood police station has led Coun Ciaran Wells to distribute hundreds of leaflets encouraging residents to have their say.
Coun Wells has already distributed 500 leaflets but still has 4500 to be handed out.
The leaflets allow residents to fill out their objections, which can be sent on to Lancashire Constabulary headquarters.
Coun Wells said: “Direct access to the police officers in Great Harwood is extremely important.
"Over the years the front desk has proved a vital point of contact for many residents.
“It’s important to a lot of people to be able to discuss their concerns face to face.”
He said a ‘healthy number of residents’ had already sent in letters urging Lancashire County Council to save Great Harwood Household Waste Recycling Centre.
