CRACKS are appearing in the £48million Darwen Aldridge Community Academy building.
Concrete has been patched up on walls at the top of the stairs, near the main entrance.
Sudell ward town councillor Martin McCaughran said he was ‘extremely worried’ about health and safety, but officials say the cracks are nothing to worry about.
A spokesman for the Aldridge Foundation said: “These are settling in issues which are not unusual for a new building, and they are being dealt with over the summer holidays.
"None of them affect the building structure at all.”
The building, in Redearth Road, first opened in September 2010.
