POLICE used a taser after forcing entry into a Great Harwood home after a man barricaded himself inside.

Officers were called to the Hanson Street property at 10am on Thursday following reports a 48-year-old man had barricaded himself within and was threating to self-harm.

The man is said to have made threats towards police and health workers and as a result trained officers attended and forced entry and a taser was deployed.

The man was physically unhurt but was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where he is being assessed under the Mental Health Act.
