SUPPORTERS of the campaign to save Colne’s household waste recycling centre are being urged to make their feelings known in person.
Petitions to save the threatened Corporation Street facility have been started by both Liberal Democrat and Labour members.
But Conservative councillors, who are also opposing the decision, have called upon residents to e-mail the Tory-controlled county council directly with their views.
Coun George Askew, Colne committee chairman, said: “While petitions work very well in some cases, this isn’t one of them.”
People can e-mail hwrcreview@lancashire.gov.uk with their observations before September 30.
Two other sites at Bacup and Great Harwood have also been earmarked for closure.
