Jason Donovan stars as Captain Von Trapp alongside Connie Fisher as Maria when the smash hit production of the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC returns to the Manchester Palace Theatre this autumn. Newsquest Northwest has teamed up with the Manchester Palace Theatre to promote their great competition to our readers. Enter now for your chance to win one of two pairs of tickets to see the opening performance on Tuesday, September 6 at 7.30pm.

Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and The Really Useful Group are delighted to announce that Jason will take the role of Captain Von Trapp in the Manchester run.

Connie is reprising her Manchester Evening News Theatre Award (Best Actress in a Visiting Production) performance when the musical returns to the Palace Theatre from Tuesday, September 6 to Saturday, September 17.

Jason Donovan has had a hugely successful and varied career as both an actor and world-wide recording artist, selling over 13 million albums to date. His West End theatre credits include ‘Tick’ in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and ‘Caractacus Potts’ in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. His touring credits include ‘Frank N Furter’ in The Rocky Horror Show, the title role in John Doyle’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd and ‘The Artilleryman’ in The War of the Worlds.

Connie Fisher won BBC 1’s How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? and played the role at the London Palladium for 15 months, to critical acclaim. Before reprising the role for the UK tour she starred in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of They’re Playing Our Song and the ITV drama Caught in a Trap.

This wonderfully lavish production tells the story of the Von Trapp family’s flight across the mountains with its unforgettable score that includes some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including Edelweiss, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, The Lonely Goatherd and the title song The Sound of Music.
