THE first Hurst Green Five Mile Trail Race is being hailed as such a success that we have been promised another, possibly in December.
Organised by Chris Barnes of Accrington Road Runners, it attracted close to 200 athletes, including quality runners at the sharp end of the field.
The women’s race for example was won by Tara Krzywicki, pictured right, who was the first Great Britain woman to break 10 minutes in the 3000m steeplechase and has represented GB on the road and track and over the country.
She joined Accrington RR earlier this year.
Damien Nicholls of Wilmslow was the men’s winner ahead of Rodger Wilkins, the international triathlete from the Blackburn Triclan club, with Jack Ross, the Junior Fell International in third.
There was even an England International in fourth as the veteran cross country international Andy Buttery won the over 40 title for Rossendale Harriers.
