A POWER cut has led to a Blackburn supermarket and 300 other premises closing this morning.

Shoppers have been turned away from Asda at Grimshaw Park, Blackburn.

And Electricty North West said many other properties in the Darwen Street and Grimshaw Park area have been affected.

A spokesman for Electricity North West, said: “A fault in a high voltage network at 9.45am resulted in around 300 properties including banks and businesses losing their electricity power supply.

“The vast majority of properties are now back on but there are still 26 premises which are effected. We apologise for the inconvenience and we should have the supply fully restored by 1pm today.”
