POLICE are urging people to get their property marked in a bid to combat burglary.
There are a number of ways to mark electrical items, tools, bikes and garden furniture, such as a marker pen, a UV pen or more sophisticated DNA type product.
PC Phil Buck, crime prevention officer, said: “Knowledge on crime prevention can and will reduce burglary in the area.
"Locking doors, closing windows and marking property will dramatically reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of burglary and theft.
“Any property that is identifiable by a unique mark cannot be kept by an offender as it links them to a scene and cannot be sold on by that offender as the handlers will not buy it.”
