HOUSING landlords in Burnley are being warned to get a licence or face action.
The council’s legal and licensing teams have prosecuted a number of landlords in recent months for failing to comply with new selective licensing laws.
Coun Martin Smith, executive member for regeneration and housing said: “This recent bout of landlords being fined for failure to comply with the law is sending out the message that we have a zero tolerance approach to landlords disregarding the selective licensing powers we have.
“As I have said in the previous cases, bad landlords are not acceptable in Burnley and we hope that the prospect of getting fined £2,000, which we can and will do, will encourage landlords to take the responsible course of action.”
