THREE cats were brought back to life after being saved from a blaze by firefighters.
The fire broke out at Sunny Top Cottages in Hawkshaw, near Ramsbottom.
Residents from the cottage on fire and the two neighbouring properties were able to escape before crews arrived.
But three cats, Ollie, Keano and Rioja, were inside one of the homes which was heavily smokelogged.
Firefighters brought out the unconscious animals and then used specialist equipment, usually used on people, on the pets to resuscitate them.
David Wood, a firefighter at Bolton North fire station, said: “They were lifeless and appeared dead, but we persisted for about 20 to 30 minutes resuscitating them and managed to bring them back to life. The owners were over the moon that we managed to save them.”
Crews from Bolton North, Bolton Central, Bury and Ramsbottom put out the blaze which started at 9.20pm on Saturday and were there for several hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
