A HYNDBURN business is now being fuelled by wood pellets and solar power after buying a new bio mass boiler.
The specialist environmental boiler was put in place at Hyndburn Used Furniture Store to provide heat and hot water.
It was transported from its former home at The Co-operative Group’s head office in Manchester to the site in Fairfield Street, Accrington, on Saturday.
The Energy Cabin comprises of a biomass boiler and a solar hot water panel.
Michael Miller, from HUFS, said: “As an environmental organisation, we recover much of the materials we are unable to reuse so they don’t end up in landfill.
“Our new bio mass boiler will provide us with a carbon neutral solution for heating our premises, fuelled by the clean wood recovered from deconstructed furniture, reducing the need to transport this furniture to recycling companies and saving the charity heating costs.”
HUFS provides low cost furniture and white goods to families facing hardship.
