ROGUE traders who sell booze to kids are being targeted in a major crackdown in Lancashire.
Lancashire’s Trading Standards team will join forces with officers from the Special Constabulary to run test purchase exercises.
Anyone pub or shop caught selling alcohol to children under the age of 18 will receive an £80 fine.
If they are caught a second time within three months, they could face a further penalty of up to £20,000 and have their licence revoked.
Special Inspector Gareth Mead said: “When we carry out test purchases, we don’t want the sale to happen.
“Trading Standards has been carrying out these types of operations, in conjunction with Lancashire Constabulary, for many years and we will continue to work in partnership to tackle the problem of underage and proxy sales of alcohol.”
