POLICE in Burnley are appealing for information after three teenagers were seen trying door handles.

The youths were spotted in the Allendale Street and Sunderland Street areas of the town on Friday.

At around 11pm, the three teenagers all described as white and wearing grey hooded tops were seen trying door handles of homes before being challenged and chased off by a resident.

Police are urging anybody that may have seen the teenagers in the area at the time to come forward.

Detective Inspector Stuart Dixon said: “We are treating this incident as an attempted burglary and are particularly keen to trace a young woman who we believe saw the young men.

“She is described as white, around 5ft 5 tall, late teens with a pale complexion, light blonde shoulder length hair, and was carrying a bag.”
