A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car this morning following a smash which saw her vehicle end up in a field.

Police said the 35-year-old motorist had been involved in a crash in her Fiat Punto near to the Deerplay Inn, in Burnley Road, Bacup around 7.50am.

She was complaining of neck, spinal and leg injuries and she was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

Police closed the road near to Crown Point Road while investigations and vehicle recovery took place.

The road reopened around 9.15am.
