A SIX-year-old cancer battler is dancing again for the first time in two years.

The family of Madison Allan of Lower Darwen, said she was ‘beginning to enjoy life again’ as life-saving trial chemotherapy appeared to be working on a large tumour wrapped around her vital organs.

Grandmother Alison Foster said: “I went round to see Madison on Tuesday night and she put on some music and said ‘I want to dance for you Nanny’.

“She’s always loved dancing and performing and had made the routine up herself, which was lovely to see.

“She’s also the heaviest she’s been in two years since she got ill at over 18 kilograms.

“But we’ve still got a hell of a long way to go and need to continue raising money.”

The Madison Allan appeal was set up in June last year to fund last chance treatment in Germany, not currently available in the UK.

So far over £100,000 has been raised, paying for three phases of chemotherapy. On May 23, Madison and her mum Samantha will travel out to Greifswald Hospital on the Baltic Coast for scans to see if the tumour has shrunk.

Last time checks were done, it revealed the mass had reduced by two centimetres all around.

A decision will then be taken on whether to continue drug treatment, or look at operating to remove the cancer. Another £150,000 to £200,000 may be needed to complete the treatment.

Alison added: “It would be awful if we ran out of money and Madison couldn’t have the next lot of treatment.

“We’ve come so far and she’s doing a lot better now. Without all the public’s help so far we know Madison wouldn’t be with us.”

To help raise money, an auction will take place on Friday of specially created toy monkeys. To bid, visit the Monkey Street profile on Facebook.
