A SUPERMARKET is to reopen under a new name after a rebrand.
Blackburn’s Netto store, in Montague Street, is now owned by the Haldane Retail Group and will shut on Saturday.
But it will reopen on Monday under the UGO name, a discount store with a focus on ‘low prices and exceptional value for money’.
The change has been forced after supermarket giant Asda’s £778million takeover of Netto last year.
It prompted the Office of Fair Trading to demand a sell-off of some Netto stores to protect competition.
Bosses said the new UGO store would have a health and beauty range, more newspapers and magazines and an extended beer selection.
Haldane said Netto employees would keep their jobs at the store.
Netto outlets in Darwen and Chorley will reopen as Asda stores.
Haldanes has also bought Burnley’s Netto, while Morrisons acquired the store in Accrington.
