DOZENS of hot air balloons dotted the East Lancashire skyline as enthusiasts from across the North West took part in a training exercise.
Members of the North West Balloon and Airship Club decended on Barnoldswick for the event, which spanned all four days of the Easter weekend.
Tom Bulloch, from the club, said the location was perfect to allow novices, as well as experts, to take to the skies.
He said: “We have flown from Barnoldswick before and always enjoy coming back.
“The weather was fantastic and very clear, which gave everyone plenty of time to get into the air.
“We flew early in the morning, and just before dusk when the breeze is low. They are the calmest parts of the day.”
The event was primarily for club members, but there was also a team from the University of Edinburgh taking part.
The club is based near Chorley and meets regularly at the Traveller’s Rest pub, in Euxton.
Another event is planned for June, near Leyland.
