BREWERY Moorhouse’s has launched a special beer to mark the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton tomorrow.

The Burnley company has come up with a commemorative ale which will be on sale in pubs across East Lancashire on the big day.

Royal Appointment boasts a rich, golden colour and Moorhouse’s says it has flavours of ‘fresh pine and citrus aroma, a fruity mouth feel, a touch of spice and hoppy after-taste from Styrian Goldings and Mount Hood hops’.

The 3.9 per cent ABV ale is one of the first created at the firm’s new £4million Tower Brewery in Accrington Road.

The new site means the firm can expand its range of beers beyond its core Pendle Witches, Blond Witch, Pride of Pendle, Premier Bitter and Black Cat ales.

Managing director David Grant said: “With a touch of fruity spiciness, we are confident that this ale will match the mood for the wedding cheer.

“We aimed to provide an outstanding beer at moderate strength to sustain cask ale fans throughout the celebrations and our brewers have produced a right royal cracker.”

Moorhouse’s new Tower Brewery, which is almost completed, was built to treble the firm’s production to 1,000 barrels a week.

Bosses believe it will give the brewery capacity to take on orders from supermarket giants like Asda and Tesco.

It will also allow for the workforce to be doubled to more than 40 employees.

A visitor centre and premier trade training school are also included in the scheme.
