A DEAL has been thrashed out to resolve parking headaches generated by Burnley’s new college and university campus.
Extra traffic generated by Burnley College and UCLan students, since the site’s opening two years ago, has caused problems for the neighbouring Rectory Road estate, off Princess Way.
Schemes were attempted to ease the difficulties, including suggesting alternative forms of transport.
These failed though and plans for restricted parking around Rectory Road, Grosvenor Street, Holme Road, Cavour Street and Ashley Street were drawn up.
Neighbours objected to this though, with some fearing the proposals went too far.
Now a compromise has been reached which removes stretches of the adjoining streets from restrictions.
Environment director Jo Turton said: “This would increase parking provision above that which would have been available in the original proposals by 16 vehicle spaces, without compromising access and safety.”
