A MAN who sexually assaulted a girl as she slept after a house party has been jailed for three and a half years.

Karl Swain, 31, attacked the 18-year-old despite her telling him three times to leave her alone.

At Preston Crown Court Swain attempted to explain the incident as ‘just trying to show affection’.

But judge Heather Lloyd said the attack was ‘terrifying’ for the victim.

And she slammed Swain for a ‘complete lack of remorse’.

Swain committed the offence just weeks after being sentenced for another sexual assault on a bus in Blackburn.

Swain, of Kipling Place, Great Harwood, admitted the attack at a home in Hancock Street, Blackburn, last August.

The victim was asleep on a settee. Three times she was awoken by Swain trying to kiss her and she told him to go away.

On the fourth occasion he sexually assaulted her.

The judge said: “You have a history of sexually inappropriate behaviour.

"But these offences are aggravated by a degree of pre-planning.

“You are a dangerous man and there is a significant risk of you committing further similar offences.”
