A NEW home for young people in Rawtenstall has been officially opened.
Crestmoor, off Haslingden Old Road, provides short-term accommodation for up to six young people before they return home or go to a permanent placement.
The £1.125million building project was completed in November, on the site of a demolished children's home that had been there for almost 40 years.
Chair of Lancashire County Council’s corporate parenting board Coun Tony Winder, said he was a regular visitor at the home and knew staff and young people well.
He said: "I can honestly say that the staff here are special and I am 100 per cent behind them.
"The young people come first every time.
"The groundbreaking work taking place here is a pleasure to see.
"I’d like to thank the staff and young people for all the help and company they've given me."
A plaque marking the opening was unveiled by County Coun Geoff Driver, leader of the council.
