Students in Pendle completed an epic ‘trek to Camp Bastion’ – without leaving Lancashire.
Eighty youngsters from the public service department at Nelson and Colne College walked a total of 3,557 miles – the distance from Nelson to Helmand Province, Afghanistan – yesterday.
The mission in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’ took place at Seedhill athletics track.
Neil Morville, department leader, said: “There is a tradition in the college of arranging events, within the public services course, for the community.
“This year the students were clear that they wanted to support Help for Heroes. It will be a big team effort.”
With family and friends helping, it meant a 40-mile slog each for those who took part.
