A scheme to tackle thieves who fill up and drive off from service stations in the Ribble Valley has officially launched.

As reported in the Lancashire Telegraph in March, police have joined forces with The British Oil Security Syndicate (BOSS) and retailers to introduce Forecourt Watch at every service station across the borough.

High visibility stickers and posters will be put up in the forecourts of petrol stations and information will also be shared about known criminals.

Last year there were 791 fraud offences involving fuel, which includes drive-offs as well as siphoning petrol from tanks, in the area.
