A LEADING plastic surgeon has called for a crackdown on East Lancashire’s ‘cosmetic cowboys’ and warned of the dangers of ‘backstreet Botox’.

Peter Paterson, who treats clients from across East Lancashire, was speaking following the inquest into the death of Denise Hendry, wife of Rovers legend Colin Hendry, after a botched cosmetic surgery procedure.

He warned that mobile Botox clinics operated by poorly trained or rogue operators had begun operating in East Lancashire – massively increasing the threat of botched procedures.

Mr Paterson’s Sandon House Clinic in Preston is a pioneer of ‘office-based’ plastic surgery in the UK.

He said: “The problem is that anyone can set themselves up as a cosmetic practitioner. Training usually means an afternoon Botox or filler course and off you go.

“I’ve had to counsel people from East Lancashire who have had botched procedures and the fact is there are many more people out there who are too embarrassed to come forward.”
