HUNDREDS of Lancashire police officers are caught in a promotion backlog.
Nationally, 9,000 officers have passed exams but cannot move upwards because of a lack of available positions as forces cut jobs.
In Lancashire, 315 officers have completed their sergeant qualification and 150 have also passed inspector exams, but are unable to be promoted into the role, according to figures from Jane’s Police Review.
Federation chiefs have warned of the ‘demoralising’ impact on the workforce.
