A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a detached garage burned down.

Emergency services were called to a fire in Bolton Road, Ewood, Blackburn, close to the junction with Tapestry Street, next to Ewood Park, just before 1am on yesterday.

Three fire crews from Blackburn and Darwen tackled the blaze after a neighbour raised the alarm.

Police and paramedics were also called, but no one was injured in the incident.

Fire crews said there was nothing of value in the garage.

A spokesman for Lancashire and Rescue Service said the exact cause was still under investigation, but it was being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters had to break into the garage to tackle the flames.

There was minimal risk of the fire spreading to any nearby properties, the spokesman added.

The 29-year-old man was yesterday being questioned by police.
