The Blackburn and District Badminton Association will once again be organising the tenth annual charity badminton tournament in honor of the former mayor of Accrington, John Culshaw.

This event will take place on Sunday 20th March 2011 and commence at 10.00am.

It is open to any player within the area, whether registered with a badminton club or not.

Teams can be a mix of players of all standards and clubs, however entrants are expected to be know the rules of the game as this is a competitive event.

This event will be held at Hyndburn Leisure Centre, Henry Street, Church, Accrington, BB5 4EP thanks to the generosity of the Hyndburn Borough Council, who have made these facilities available.

The tournament which is handicapped is made up of teams of four players (two ladies, two men) who play a total of 8 games in each match (two mixed and two levels games each using rally point scoring).

Teams will play several of these matches throughout the day depending on the number of teams in each pool.

Play will commence from 10am on the Sunday morning and it is hoped that the finals of the event will be completed by 5pm. This is an enjoyable day where games will be played on a pools basis, meaning you will play lots of games against players of different standards.

When applying for entry to the tournament, teams should give themselves a ‘team name’ and advise the names of players, together with a contact telephone number. An entry fee of £20 (£5 per player) will be collected on the day of the tournament. If you enter and later can’t participate you will still be liable for full payment.
