A BLACKBURN student is urging others to go back to school and study for an apprenticeship.

Jessica Henry, from Knuzden, Blackburn is close to completing her level 3 advanced apprenticeship in health and social care and plans to continue with her studies at university.

The 19-year-old had to re-sit her GCSEs at the college before leaving to work full time at Capita in Darwen.

She then decided to go back to college to pursue a career in social work.

Jessica said: “I really liked the idea of doing an apprenticeship and studying part time. I don’t think that I would have coped well with being at college full time but this was the perfect option for me.”

Jessica completed her level two apprenticeship in health and social care at Park View Resource Centre, Clayton-le-Moors, and was then offered a full time job with the centre. She now hopes to have finished the level three qualification.

Deputy manager of Park View centre, Daniel Leatheret said: “We are really proud of Jessica’s success so far, and we want to make sure that she continues to deliver the same standard throughout her learning.”
