A RAWTENSTALL dog owner who failed to clean up her dog’s mess was issued with an on-the-spot fine.
The woman was walking her dog in Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, and was spotted walking away, without attempting to clean up the mess, by the valley’s dog warden.
She was issued with a £75 fixed penalty notice, which was later reduced to £50 as it was settled within two weeks of the offence taking place.
The fine is the third fixed penalty notice to be issued by Rossendale Council in the last 12 months.
Environment portfolio holder Coun Peter Steen said: “We are doing our best to make sure the mess is cleaned up, but we also need dog owners to act lawfully and responsibly by cleaning up after their pets.”
