MUSIC promoters hoping to follow in the footsteps of industry legend Tony Wilson will be helped by the launch of a new training scheme.

Supported by his widow Yvette Livesey, the Promoter Network Training Scheme will take place on January 26 and February 2.

The brainchild of Regenerate Pennine Lancashire, it is aimed at encouraging the the next generation of label bosses and festival organisers.

Four of the best promoters will then be given the chance to arrange the East Lancashire heats of a competition to find fresh acts for Liverpool’s Sound City festival in May.

The initiative has also received funding from the Arts Council North West, North West Vision and Media and Creative Lancashire.
