A REVIEW has found that Ramsbottom’s Civic Hall made the second most significant loss of any venue in the borough of Bury.
Under a Freedom of Informaton Act request, it has emerged that it cost £265,077 to run the Market Place building.
Income generated was only £79,032, leaving a cost gap for 2008-09 of £186,045.
The Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall had £514,668 spent on it and recouped £315,209, leaving a £199,459 gap.
Radcliffe Civic Suite and Prestwich’s Longfield Suite cost £125,444 and £138,646 respectively over the same period.
But council bosses chose to continue supporting the Elizabethan Suite and Ramsbottom’s hall, and bring a private firm to run Radcliffe and formulate proposals to market the Prestwich hall.
The civic hall in Ramsbottom was relaunched recently thanks to council investment and a grant from the Pilsworth Environmental Company.
