A Langho man who was concerned about the disappearance of his dog ended up injuring a man in a park.
Andrew Farrington's view was that the victim had taken the dog and confronted him in the park.
The injured man sustained a 2cm cut to his hand.
Farrington, 39, of Whalley Road, Langho, appeared for sentence at Preston Crown Court after previously admitting unlawful wounding.
Judge Anthony Russell told Farrington the offence was serious.
He said the case was unusual and had happened when he was under stress about the disappearance of his dog.
Farrington was sentenced to 40 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.
