WITH the better half elsewhere I turned to the refuge of single men everywhere and headed off for a pizza.
Having sampled the wares of the Godfather in Blackburn, I thought I'd give the Darwen end of the operation a try.
It offers kebabs and pizzas in three sizes plus calzone with a wide variety of toppings.
I opted for a 9-inch seafood pizza with extra anchovies which set me back £4.90.
You can't fault the amount of topping you get as there was plenty of tuna and other seafood and lashings of salty anchovies.
The base isn't quite deep pan but is more substantial than a thin crust and there is plenty of cheese without it getting overpowering.
It was a struggle to finish it on my own but I enjoyed every mouthful, and you can't say fairer than that.
