SIX-year-old cancer battler Madison Allan will soon be home.

Her family are planning to deck out her house in Lord’s Crescent, Lower Darwen, with lights and banners on Saturday to celebrate the end of her first course of life-saving chemotherapy treatment.

Madison will make her journey home from Greifswald Hospital in Germany, where she has been since August, on a plane with her mum Samantha.

Madison’s grandmother Alison Foster said: “We can’t wait to see her.

“She finishes the first phase of her treatment on Friday and flies home the next day.

“After a two-week break, she’ll go back to Germany for a week, then be home for two, and so on until April.

“The second phase involves an oral form of chemotherapy that she will be able to take at home, with checks in Germany.”

Alison added: “She seems to be a bit brighter in herself these days, and her appetite is slowly coming back.

“She’s said she wants a cake for her return, and wants to go for a meal at Frankie and Benny’s, so we’re going to sort that out for her.

“She is up and down at the moment, so when she is well, we have to do things there and then.”

The first phase of Madison’s treatment has cost 50,000 Euros, paid for by The Madison Allan Appeal.

Another 90,000 Euros is needed to fund the second course, with the possibility of total costs reaching £250,000. It is hoped the treatment will shrink an aggressive neuroblastoma tumour in her stomach.

A concert has been arranged to raise money for The Madison Allan Appeal at Darwen Library Theatre on Thursday, November 18.

From 7.30pm, Darwen-based artistes The Jamie Mac Band, The Chain, and acoustic band Outsider will play their sets.

All seats cost £4. To book a ticket call in at the theatre in Knott Street or call 01254 706006.
