A ROSSENDALE singer is hoping to get the judges all shook up when he takes part in the Elvis World Cup Final.

Paul Molloy is planning to win over any Suspicious Minds at the International Elvis tribute competition next month.

The entertainer, from Crawshawbooth, will represent England after bagging the regional title last month to crown 10 years of impersonating the King.

He will compete against singers from Italy, Brazil, Japan, Spain, Poland, Canada and Lebanon for the honour of becoming the ultimate Elvis.

Paul, 39, said: “I was a fan of Elvis when I was a teenager and I think that’s important for anyone doing tribute acts. You have to like the artist and that was the case for me. A bonus was that my singing voice is similar to Elvis Presley.

“In the regional heat I just felt like everything fell into place, so I was confident, but you can never know with competition judges.

“I hope I can carry that into the final.”

Paul will perform two songs of his choice backed by the band Red Alert.

The panel of judges will select three of the finalists to return and perform another two songs before the winner is crowned.

The final will be held on July 4 at St David’s Hall, in Cardiff.
