TODAY’S edition of the Lancashire Telegraph has been guest edited by two of the county’s most influential community leaders to mark Local Newspaper Week.

The Dean of Blackburn, the Very Rev Christopher Armstrong, and Coun Salim Mulla spent the day at Newspaper House, in Blackburn, yesterday helping to put the edition together.

The Dean said: “It has been an eye-opener in terms of the amount of information coming in to the office from so many locations and how quickly, and skilfully, the paper is produced each day.

“It is a big contrast to writing a sermon.”

Coun Mulla, secretary of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, said: “It has given me a very good understanding of the media and has been thoroughly enjoyable.”

Local Newspaper Week this year is celebrating the importance of local journalism which is relevant to readers’ lives and trusted by local communities.
