A mother-of-five has been crowned ‘Mum of the Year’ after a touching tribute from her seven-year-old son.
Heather Murphy, from Fern Gore, Accrington, said she was ‘stunned’ to scoop the title in a competition run by the Oswaldtwistle-based charity Global.
Mrs Murphy’s youngest son, Peter, won the judges over with a heartfelt letter in which he said his mum had ‘two hearts’ because she was so kind.
The 44-year-old said: "It was touching just to be nominated.
"It’s wonderful to know your children think so much of you.”
Mrs Murphy, a director of Hyndburn Homes, won a studio family portrait session, an overnight stay at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel and a pampering session.
