IF you are not from Colne you've probably never heard of Taste.
And if you are you've most likely walked past it a dozen times without ever noticing.
The tiny little restaurant and grill in Windybank Road is almost camouflaged from the outside.
Inside, though, is a strikingly modern but comfortable interior where I've seen everything from casual groups in jeans to formal dinner parties with no one managing to look out of place.
As a vegetarian in the making there's always something new for me to try, like marinated asparagus, wild broccoli and leeks on a garlic flageolet bean potato cake with a Pernod and chervil sauce.
While carnivore hubby invariably goes straight for the melt-in-your-mouth roast shoulder of Pendle lamb with honey, mint and redcurrant sauce.
With the occasionally unpronounceable item on the menu you'd be forgiven for thinking the place was a little two posh for your penny.
But portions are massive and come with a selection of vegetable side dishes, making it that much harder to save room for dessert.
To top it all off, every Thursday and Sunday Taste runs a special offer where you can enjoy a three-course meal for only £15.99.
That's a bargain anywhere never mind somewhere with dishes as adventurous as mango and ginger cheesecake with nutmeg crme chantilly.
Directions and a full copy of the latest menu are now online at www.taste-restaurant.co.uk.
So why not give Colne's best kept secret a try?
