POLICE investigating the death of a woman found hanging in Rossendale say her identity is a mystery.
The body of the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was discovered hanging from a tree near the Heightside House nursing home, Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall, on Thursday afternoon.
Police are now carrying out fingerprint checks to try and identify her.
East Lancashire coroner's officer Bob Wilson said: "We are investigating the death and we are attempting to establish the identity of the deceased. Part of that process includes taking fingerprints."
A post-mortem examination will be carried out once the woman's identity has been established.
