Police are warning World Cup revellers in Lancashire not to kick off, whether England win or lose in their quarter final against Portugal on Saturday.
With a 4pm kick-off and weather forecasters predicting sunshine and soaring temperatures, thousands of supporters are expected to spend the day in pubs and clubs across the county.
But high visibility patrols will be in operation in town centres in a bid to keep a lid on any potential violence and officers said licensed premises will also be visited by uniformed officers.
Police are concerned that fans may continue boozing after the match and into the night, prompting concerns over disorder, although they report their have only been a few minor drink related incidents after previous England matches this month.
"Obviously we want people to have a good time, but we don't want their behaviour to have an adverse effect on anyone, including themselves," said Lancashire Police's assistant chief constable, Mike Cunningham.
