THE headteacher of St John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School in Colne has praised teachers and pupils at the school's annual prize evening.

The Gibfield Road school's head Brendan Conboy thanked parents, pupils and staff for attending the event at Colne's Pendle Hippodrome last night.

Trophies for work and effort were awarded to year 7 pupil Natasha Godfrey, year 8 pupil Natalie Haythornthwaite, year 9 student Katrina Pratt and year 10 pupil Hayley Milne. Louise Sharman scooped the Waite trophy award for achievement, and awards for community service went to Joshua Leonard, Crystal Karim, Peter Till and Joe Brown.

Nelson and Colne College trophy awards for community service were presented to Ryan Sumner, Natalie Haythornthwaite, Jennifer Smith and Lucy Bannister.

The Joe French Trophy for sports personality of the year was awarded to Charlotte Edwards and Dean Mottram, and Paul Roberts was presented with the Peter Donnelly trophy for perseverance.
