A SPURNED dad tried to by-pass a restraining order against his ex-partner by sending her threats in letters to his infant son.

Bradley White, 28, of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, sent the letters while serving a 13-month jail term for affray against Miss Rian Pollard.

Burnley Crown Court heard that he was depressed, resentful and upset because she was said to have had an affair.

White sent letters expressing his deep resentment to his son and accepted they could only be seen as threatening and abusive towards Miss Pollard, the court was told.

Austin Welch, defending, said White accepted he had done wrong and deeply regretted his actions.

White admitted three counts of breaching a restraining order.

He was jailed for nine months, suspended for 18 months.

The judge also made a new three-year restraining order banning him from contacting Miss Pollard, going within 100 metres of her home and making false reports concerning her to public bodies.

Sentencing, Judge Angela Nield told White that he had used his son in misguided revenge.

She said a return to custody may well increase the risk he presented the victim which he had reduced through his own efforts.
