Hailing from the East End of London via Berlin and Sheffield, Finlay received deserved praise for their debut album I Dreams And Visions in late 2003. That trend carries on here with The Fall of Mary.
It's an infectious pop/rock shuffle of indie hooks and melodic emo and a clear influence from bands such as The Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth.
Jam-packed with originality, and a great song-writing talent, there's anthems galore throughout this album.
Stand-out tracks at the moment include This One and Hanging Crowds, though some songs are clear growers, and will probably surpass those with repeated listens.
Finlay have already shared the stage with the likes of The Futureheads and British Sea Power at Truck Festival, and will be touring around the UK in 2006 promoting this outstanding release.
Released April 17, 2006.
