AN Accrington man who went round to his girlfriend's house and threatened her and her mother with a gun after she put the phone down on him has been jailed.
Shaun Varley, 32, turned up at the victims' house in a taxi with the unloaded air pistol after losing his temper.
A brave cabbie talked him out of it and took him home again, Burnley Crown Court heard.
Varley, of Spring Hill Road, admitted possessing a firearm when prohibited and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence to Susan and Edwina Bleasdale, last October.
Varley was sent to prison for 12 months.
Sentencing, Judge Beverley Lunt praised the courage of the taxi driver in encouraging the defendant to leave.
The court was told the defendant had 71 previous convictions and had been to prison.
For Varley, Mark Stuart said there was no evidence the gun was loaded.
