A MOTHER whose daughter was allegedly bundled into a car and robbed has warned parents to make sure they know where their children are at all times.

Samantha Spiers, 13, and schoolmate Rebecca Ainsworth, 12, were allegedly dragged by their hair and forced into a car in Brierfield on Sunday.

The two distraught girls were released half an hour later and allegedly forced to hand over their mobile phones and a jacket.

Samantha's mother, Ann Khan, 35, said: "You never believe that it's going to happen to you, it's something you read about in the papers.

"I would say to parents to always know where your children are going, and if they are not home on time you know to start worrying," added the mother-of-four.

"I just want parents to be aware of what's out there."

The ordeal started when the two Edge End High School pupils were walking home after buying sweets from the Co-op store in Nelson Road on Sunday evening.

A grey car, with two teenage girls in the back and two men in the front, allegedly pulled up in Burnley Road and Samantha and Rebecca told police they were forced into the car.

The car was then allegedly driven to a derelict property near Reedley Hall, off Robinson Lane, where the friends said they were dragged out of the car.

The schoolmates said they were driven around and dumped near Dixy Fried Chicken, Burnley Road, where they were allegedly forced to hand over their mobile phones and a jacket.

The schoolgirls had been at the cyber cafe in Halifax Road that afternoon, after finishing using the computers they went to buy sweets from the Co-op.

Detective Sergeant Derry Crorken, said the police were still keen to trace the two men said to be in the front of the car.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01282 472644 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

l Two girls aged 13 and 14, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with false imprisonment and robbery in relation to the incident.
