A building which is a former thriving restaurant is now a "fly in the ointment," a Todmorden councillor told Calderdale's planning committee.
They agreed and gave Todmorden Pride permission to bulldoze the former restaurant between Rochdale canal and the Golden Lion Hotel, Fielden Square.
A former chairman of Todmorden Development Committee, Coun Dorothy Jordan, told the meeting that informal approaches to developers had all been unsuccessful.
Todmorden Pride was granted planning permission to demolish the building and then landscape the site.
